As I write this article it is the week before Labor Day and summer is nearly over. We finally finished the Town Hall bathroom recently, thanks to Gary Ricketts for his help. We are currently taking bids for three more possible town hall projects. We need to build a small interior room for the judge’s chambers, we want to fix up the front porch and get the old hall painted. We will see how much these things would cost, and how our budget looks. The town board will be starting work on the 2010 budget soon. We have been told that the cost of state retirement is going to triple, which would be an increase of about $15,000.00 for the Town of Granger. The state seems to keep pushing up our costs. The Town of Granger Republican Caucus was last Saturday. All of the current town officials were re-nominated without opposition. Thank you to everyone for your support.
This summer the town bought a new CAT tractor to mow and pull the road hone. We were again able to use some of the state CHIPs funding to cover most of the cost.
We sold the 1981 Ford 5600, which also helped pay for the new tractor. The town highway department is currently working on the CHIPs project, which is rebuilding about two miles of the North end of Old State Rd. They have been ditching and replacing culvert pipes. Hauling 250 to 300 loads of gravel will be next. It has been an unusually wet summer, which has delayed highway work. Let’s hope we can get the project finished this season.
We welcome any interested citizen to attend your town board meetings on the second Monday evening of every month.
